Psalm 8:1 O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. 2 Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger. 3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, 4 what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? 5 Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. 6 You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet, 7 all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, 8 the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas. 9 O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! Sit back and enjoy the beauty of God's creation and give Him praise. With all of the craziness going on around us, now would be a great time to walk outside and look around. It is not just the moon and the stars and the beauty of the sunsets that speak of the glory of God. It is the work of His fingers in the formation of the world, the beauty of the flowers, the wonder of the budding trees this time of year, and the songs of the birds. Everything around us in nature sings to the wisdom and majesty of our God. And He cares for us. Why, David says, "I don't understand." Nor do we. But God is not just mindful of mankind, He gave us dominion over the things of this world. He put us in charge of taking care of this wonderful "garden." "O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth." I have been nurturing orchids for a few years now. Learning a bit about caring for this delicate flower and the plant system that supports it. The intricacy of how the leaves cover the roots to keep them moist and how the stem grows and buds. What a blessing to watch the bud grow a little more each day. I keep trying to catch the moment when the bulb turns to flower, but it must happen so fast that I am never around to see it. And the colors are magnificent and glorious. I can only imagine in a very small way, what the glories of heaven will be like when one day we will have no more tears and sorrow, no more sadness and trouble. That glorious day, when the bulb of our lives will break forth in splendor as we walk into the place God has waiting for us to enjoy forever. In the mean time, take some time each day and turn your attention away from the news and bustle of today and see the glory of the creation of God. His glimpse for us into the beauty that awaits us when this life is over.
